What Is MAK?
MAK stands for Multiple Activation Key. This is a alphanumeric key that must be obtained from your software coordinator. Each MAK key can activate a specific number of computers. Once the key is entered, the computer contacts Microsoft's activation server and the pool of activations assigned to the key is depleted.
Rather than having each computer contact Microsoft individually, a MAK Proxy Server can also be used. This server makes a single activation request to Microsoft on behalf of many computers. ITD does not currently provide a MAK Proxy Server. We will re-evaluate providing this service if the need arises.
