Windows XP and Windows Vista include Remote Assistance technology that can utilize Active Directory group policies for deployment and management of the Remote Assistance utility.
The Unity.AD implementation of the Microsoft Remote Assistance utility allows NC State University Help Desk staff, acting in the role of "Expert" to offer Remote Assistance to people using PCs that are registerd as part of the Unity.AD domain. With permission from the person at the PC, in the role of "Novice", the Expert can engage in a computer chat session, view what the Novice sees on the computer, send files or even, with an additional permission request, share control of the Novice's computer to resolve problems on the remote computer of the Novice.
